Ambient Mechanical Boiler Retrofit

The decision to upgrade the existing conventional atmospheric domestic hot water boiler  plant to a high-efficiency or condensing boiler plant, was based on  the age of the boiler  plant, along with the vast array of energy efficient boilers that are available in the marketplace today (typical life expectancy of an atmospheric boiler system is 15 -20 years, per Ashrae).

The new Camus Boiler Plant was reconfigured by way of, re-piping, and  re-insulating along with new stainless steel venting..   The stainless steel venting was installed since the original venting was not the proper size to accommodate the new high efficient boilers, coupled with the fact that stainless steel venting is recommended by certain manufacturers’.

When replacing a Domestic Hot Water Plant, minimal interruption to the owners is of the upmost concern, therefore, the project had to be completed as quickly and efficiently, with minimal owner interruption.

The Board benefitted by not only saving thousands of dollars on the buildings Annual Energy Consumption, but also received  an incentive from Enbridge Gas which was based on cubic meters of gas saved per annum..  Enbridge will pay $0.10 per m3 of projected annual natural gas savings to a maximum of $30,000 per building.
